EASTCONN’s Arts at the Capitol Theater (ACT) is a public, performing arts magnet high school with free enrollment for Connecticut students. At ACT, academically motivated students have daily access to unique educational experiences that blend traditional high school academics with the arts.  Students can select from a broad range of pathways:  Acting, Creative Writing, Dance, Integrated Arts & Management, Media Arts, Music, Technical Theater (sets, lights, costuming).  To learn more about our program, click here.

Our Arts at the Capitol Theater Performing Arts Magnet High School (ACT) is currently seeking a Student Support Specialist I to work with our 9-12 grade students in academic and performing arts classrooms.  

 

 

Required Qualifications:

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Education: High School Diploma or GED
Experience: At least one year of paid or unpaid volunteer experience working with children in an organized setting.
Or: Combination of education and experience that is a substantial equivalent to the above education and experience.

 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. For positions in the CDT Program: Within six (6) months of appointment, must successfully complete Physical Management Techniques (PMT) training and recertification annually.
2. For positions in the Autism Program: Within six (6) months of appointment, must successfully complete Safety Care training and recertification annually.
3. Depending on Program: Complete and maintain certification for First Aid and CPR.
