We are seeking a dedicated and experienced full and/or part time CT Licensed Occupational Therapist to join our Related Services Team working within EASTCONN's schools and/or public schools serviced by EASTCONN.
The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting students' participation and engagement in various school activities by providing specialized occupational therapy services. This position requires a strong commitment to promoting students' independence, enhancing their functional skills, and fostering their overall well-being within the school environment.
Individuals experienced working with low incident populations are encouraged to apply (Autism, Multiple Disabilities, etc.)
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of students' fine motor skills, sensory processing, and activities of daily living to develop individualized treatment plans.
- Implement evidence-based occupational therapy interventions and techniques to improve students' motor skills, sensory integration, and cognitive abilities.
- Collaborate closely with teachers, parents, and other professionals to ensure a cohesive and integrated approach to students' learning and development.
- Monitor and document students' progress, adjusting intervention plans as necessary, and maintaining accurate records of therapy sessions and outcomes.
- Provide guidance and training to teachers and caregivers, offering strategies to promote students' independence and participation in classroom and school-based activities.
- Actively participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings, contributing to the development and implementation of education plans tailored to students' specific needs.
Qualifications:
- Valid Connecticut state license to practice occupational therapy.
- Prior experience working with children, preferably in an educational or pediatric setting.
- Profound knowledge of pediatric occupational therapy techniques, sensory integration, and activities of daily living.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse team and communicate with parents and caregivers.
- Commitment to continuous professional development and staying updated with the latest research and best practices in pediatric occupational therapy.
