EASTCONN Transportation provides services to agencies across northeastern Connecticut and school systems throughout the state. Our staff members are trained to transport medically fragile students, students with special needs, public school students, and adult clients going to jobs and job-training sites.
EASTCONN is seeking a reliable and professional Support Driver to fill substitute shifts for CDL School Bus Drivers. This role is essential in ensuring safe and timely transportation for students, maintaining high standards of safety and professionalism. This is a full time year round position with benefits.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate school buses in a safe, responsible manner, following all traffic laws and EASTCONN policies.
- Adhere to scheduled routes and timings, ensuring students are transported to and from school safely and on time.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the bus, reporting any issues to the maintenance team.
- Maintain a safe and respectful environment on the bus for students.
- Follow EASTCONN’s policies and procedures, including the mandated drug and alcohol testing and safety protocols.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid CDL with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements, or the ability to obtain required endorsements.
- Clean driving record and strong commitment to safety.
- Experience driving school buses or similar vehicles is preferred.
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with students, parents, and school staff.
- Willingness to undergo required background checks, including drug and alcohol testing.
- Flexibility a must.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. required.
