Human Services Navigator (Health Careers Navigator & Workforce Advisor)
     Location: Adult and Community Programs sites - Danielson and Willimantic, remote as needed
     Full time, 40 hours, with benefits

Required qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Sociology, Human Development, Counseling, Workforce Development, or other relevant degree field plus three years related work experience (will consider reasonable alternative combination of education and experience)
  • Ability to thrive within diverse teams and serve people with diverse socioeconomic, racial, and ethnic backgrounds.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Competency with Microsoft Suite (including Outlook, Word, Excel) and Google Workspace (including Gmail, Sheets, Docs, Drive).
  • Capacity to complete data-entry tasks utilizing computer and web-based systems, maintain accuracy and efficiency in fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to travel within Eastern Connecticut and occasionally statewide with reliable transportation.
  • Experience with Public Speaking and presentation skills for group workshops (preferably in-person and web-based).
  • Manage Personally Identifiable Information and maintaining ethics and confidentiality surrounding sensitive information. 
  • Possess high energy and motivation to assist customers in challenging situations with designing individualized pathways to meet their employment goals.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of job searching, developing employment plans and employment goal setting.
  • Experience successfully managing difficult conversations and coaching individuals towards successful goal obtainment. 
  • Knowledge of One Stop center services, Adult Education programming, Career Pathways, post-secondary and employment partners and programs, career planning resources, job development and the business community in Eastern Connecticut. 
  • Bilingual preferred: English/Spanish
  • Flexibility to work at multiple sites.

Position Responsibilities include:

  • Provide career pathway guidance (post-secondary education/training & employment)
  • Raise awareness of health careers, training opportunities
  • Participate in recruitment, orientation, and enrollment activities
  • Provide person centered case management services
  • Administer comprehensive career assessment tools which may be industry specific; skill/aptitude-specific; interest inventories; & other tools relevant to customer needs
  • Work with Business Services Team to identify available mentoring, and/or job opportunities for those completing healthcare courses
  • Develop educational and career plans with participants
  • Perform other duties as required and/or directed
